“Learning is like a fire, a single spark is enough. ”
– Joan O’Mara
With my enthusiastic interest in death photography and British horror cinema, I’ve spoken and offered seminars throughout the UK at institutions including: the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, ICA Salons, the Association of Art Historians, LCCT, Sotheby’s Institute for Art, The Nairn Book & Arts Festival, and more informal talks with The Women’s Institute. Some of my favourite topics include: The History of Plant Horror; Class Critique in British Horror Cinema; Beauty and Medical Photography; and Tactility in Post-mortem Portraiture.
I’ve also shared ideas and discussed photography, death in culture, and the cultural commentary of horror films through podcast and radio, including productions such as Resonance FM and Sick City Talks.
If you are a school or institution, you may be interested to know I led courses with The Brilliant Club and specialist lectures to Art GCSE and A-level students. I’m also privileged to work with art teachers through the Prince’s Trust Institute. I am always interested in continuing this work.
